Zomato and Swiggy
How to read your Zomato Settlement Report, column by column, and check every deduction
By the Veritally team · Updated · 7 min read
Quick answer
On the Order Level tab, each order's payout is its Net order value, less the Service fee and Payment mechanism fee, less Government charges (GST on those fees, TCS, TDS and the GST Zomato pays under section 9(5)), less any other order-level deductions. Check the service fee % against your contract on every order, then match the Bank UTR on the Summary tab to the credit in your bank.
Key points
- The workbook has a Summary (with the Bank UTR), a Payout Breakup, an Order Level tab, Addition/ Deduction Details, a Discounts Summary and a Glossary.
- Net order value includes the GST the customer paid; that GST comes back out as "GST paid by Zomato on behalf of restaurant - under section 9(5)". It is tax, not a loss.
- The Service fee is your commission: Service fees % times the Commissionable value. An order charged a higher % than your contract is worth a question.
- Ads, Hyperpure and TDS 194H refunds sit in Addition/ Deduction Details, not on order lines, so the Net Pay-out on the Summary is not the sum of the order lines.
- Download the Excel file, not a PDF, so every column can be checked.
Where to get it
Zomato sends the Settlement Report for each pay-out cycle (weekly, or daily on some contracts) and you can download it from your partner dashboard's payouts section. Download the Excel file: a PDF can't be checked line by line.
The tabs
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Summary | Report period, Res id, pay-out cycle, total orders, Net Pay-out and the Bank UTR |
| Payout Breakup | The week's totals, line by line, delivered and cancelled orders side by side |
| Order Level | Every order with its sales, fees, taxes, deductions and order level payout |
| Addition/ Deduction Details | Restaurant-level lines: TDS 194H refunds and other additions; ads, Hyperpure and other deductions; adjustments from previous weeks |
| Discounts Summary | The offers running on your outlet that week |
| Glossary | Zomato's own definition of every column |
How one order's payout is worked out
These are the columns of the Order Level tab, in the order they appear:
| Column | What it is |
|---|---|
| Subtotal (items total) | What the dishes cost before any discount |
| Packaging charge | Your packaging charge |
| Restaurant discount [Promo], [BOGO, Freebies, Gold...] | Discounts you fund |
| Total GST collected from customers | The customer's GST, usually 5% |
| Net order value | Subtotal plus packaging, less your discounts, plus the customer's GST |
| Commissionable value | The value commission is charged on (no customer GST) |
| Service fees % and Service fee | Your commission rate, and the commission in rupees |
| Payment mechanism fee | The payment collection charge |
| Taxes on service & payment mechanism fees | 18% GST on the two fees above |
| Tax collected at source, TCS IGST amount, TDS 194O amount | Taxes withheld, which you claim back in your returns |
| GST paid by Zomato on behalf of restaurant - under section 9(5) | The customer's GST, paid to the government by Zomato |
| Customer Compensation/ Recoupment, Delivery Charges Recovery, Credit note/(Debit Note), Promo recovery and others | Other order-level deductions |
| Order level Payout | What this order pays you |
| Settlement status, Settlement date, Bank UTR | Whether it was paid, when, and in which bank transfer |
A real order from January 2025 (outlet details left out) shows the formula: Net order value ₹315, less service fee ₹81, payment mechanism fee ₹5.80, taxes on those fees ₹15.62 and GST under 9(5) ₹15, gives an order level payout of ₹197.58.
What to check every week
- Commission on every order: Service fee divided by Commissionable value should be your contract rate. One order charged more is a question for partner support.
- Each order adds up: Net order value less the fees, taxes and deductions should equal the Order level Payout.
- Recoveries on orders: customer compensation, delivery charge recovery and promo recovery. Each one should have a reason you recognise.
- Addition/ Deduction Details: every ad and Hyperpure deduction should be one you agreed to. Where only part was adjusted this week, the rest carries forward.
- The bank: the Bank UTR on the Summary should match a credit in your current account for the same amount.
Veritally does all five for you: upload the Excel file on the check page with the Zomato tab chosen.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my Net Pay-out not the sum of the order level payouts?
Because ads, Hyperpure, TDS 194H refunds and adjustments from previous weeks are restaurant-level lines in Addition/ Deduction Details. Add them to the order lines and the total should match.
Is the GST under section 9(5) money I lost?
No. It is the GST your customer paid, which Zomato collects in the order value and pays to the government for restaurant services. It goes in and comes out on the same order.
What commission should I see?
Your own contract's rate. Restaurant associations report rates from 8% to 28% depending on the outlet and contract, so check yours rather than a general figure.
